Even though Bitcoin has suffered some security setbacks over the last few months, many retailers still seem happy to let customer pay with the controversial crypto-currency.

The latest of these retailers is online tech store Newegg, which today announced plans to begin accepting Bitcoin for purchases on the site. To make this happen, Newegg is teaming up with virtual currency processor Bitpay.

“Newegg's customers are among some of the earliest Bitcoin miners and are enthusiastic proponents of the crypto-currency. Adopting Bitcoin as a payment method is another way we're responding to our customers' diverse needs," said Newegg chief marketing officer Soren Mills in a statement.

Newegg is hardly the only big online site jumping into Bitcoin payments. Earlier this year both Expedia and Overstock started accepting the currency. And while I doubt most techies use either of those sites on a regular basis, Newegg customers that use Bitcoin should be far more plentiful.
