Senator Marco Rubio visits seven programs this Sunday, talking about immigration as he and the rest of a bipartisan group of eight senators prepare to release a proposal to overhaul the system. The Florida Republican will appear on the five major Sunday shows, as well as the programs on Telemundo and Univision.

Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, and Senator Patrick J. Toomey, Republican of Pennsylvania, will join CNN’s “State of the Union” and CBS’s “Face the Nation.” The pair moved the conversation about guns forward last week after coming to a compromise on expanding background checks. Mark E. Kelly will be on CBS, discussing the anti-gun violence campaign he’s undertaken with his wife, Gabrielle Giffords.

Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, will discuss North Korea on CNN.

In addition to Mr. Rubio, each party’s No. 2 in the Senate â€" John Cornyn, Republican of Texas, and Richard J. Durbin, Democrat of Illinois and another member of the so-called Gang of Eight â€" will join “Fox News Sunday” to discuss immigration and the other major issues before Congress.

Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the ranking Republican on the Budget Committee, and Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York and another member of the Gang of Eight, will also be on ABC’s “This Week.” They will weigh in on immigration, guns and the budget.

Plus, Representative Robert W. Goodlatte of Virginia, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Representative Luis V. Gutierrez, Democrat of Illinois and a member of the House’s bipartisan group on immigration, will join ABC’s roundtable.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Democrat of New York, and Senator Mike Lee of Utah, one of the Republicans who threatened to filibuster the Congressional debate over guns, will be on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” arguing the merits of pending gun legislation.

Senator Robert Menendez, Democrat of New Jersey who is also in the Gang of Eight, will join Mr. Rubio on Univision’s “Al Punto” Sunday at 10 a.m. Eastern. Mr. Gutierrez and Representative Mario Diaz-Balart, Republican of Florida and Mr. Gutierrez’s colleague in the House’s bipartisan group on immigration, will also be on the program.

Senator Michael Bennet, Democrat of Colorado and another member of the Gang of Eight, will join Mr. Rubio on Telemundo’s “Enfoque” at noon Eastern.

Bloomberg’s “Political Capital” had Senator Carl Levin, Democrat of Michigan, on Friday. Repeats of the program air throughout the weekend.

Representative Buck McKeon of California, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, tells C-Span’s “Newsmakers” what he thinks about President Obama’s proposed defense budget.

On Bloomberg’s “Capitol Gains” Sunday at noon Eastern, Timothy J. Mayopoulos, president and chief executive of Fannie Mae, talks about the state of his company. Then Richard L. Trumka, president of the A.F.L.-C.I.O., will discuss immigration reform and the president’s approach to entitlements.

Angela Davis, activist and subject of a new documentary called “Free Angela and All Political Prisoners,” will join TV One’s “Washington Watch” Sunday at 11 a.m. Eastern. Also on the program will be Jada Pinkett Smith, the actress and a producer of the film, and Will Smith, the actor.

The Weekend Word: Mental Health

Today’s Times

  • Lawmakers have been working on legislation that would lead to some of the most significant advancements in treating mental illness in years and address a problem that people on both sides of the issue agree is a root cause of gun violence, Jeremy W. Peters reports. The legislation would also serve as a political refuge for Republicans and more conservative Democrats who are eager to offer a federal response to the nation’s recent mass shootings, but have no interest in taking action on anything that could be construed as an infringement on the Second Amendment.
  • Illegal immigrants who arrived in the country after Dec. 31, 2011, could be ineligible to apply for legal status under a new bipartisan bill, Ashley Parker reports. Every bill that legalizes immigrants has a cutoff date for eligibility, but immigration advocates had been pushing for the date to be as current as possible â€" Jan. 1, 2013.
  • President Obama released his 2012 tax returns on Friday, showing that his personal income has dropped significantly since he was first inaugurated, mostly because of declining sales from his two books, Michael D. Shear reports.
  • Fund-raising totals for Organizing for Action, the grass-roots group that grew out of President Obama’s campaign machine, suggest that it may initially struggle to raise the kind of money that Mr. Obama relied on during his presidential campaigns, Michael D. Shear writes.

Weekly Addresses

  • President Obama relinquished his usual role of delivering the weekly address to Francine Wheeler, whose 6-year-old son, Ben, was killed in the Newtown, Conn., shooting in December. She spoke with hopes that the Senate would pass reforms to protect other children and communities in the future. “I’ve heard people say that the tidal wave of anguish our country felt on 12/14 has receded,” she said. “But not for us. To us, it feels as if it happened just yesterday. Please help us do something before our tragedy becomes your tragedy.”
  • Representative Jackie Walorski of Indiana delivered the Republican Weekly Address, harping on President Obama’s proposed budget and offering “a better way” to solve the nation’s deficit. “If we were to implement the president’s budget, taxes would go up on just about every American, including middle-class families,” she said. “The president’s budget isn’t a compromise; it’s a blank check for more spending and more debt.” She offered her party’s alternative, which aims to balance the budget in 10 years, end “the waste of taxpayer dollars” and foster a healthy economy.

Happenings in Washington

  • The White House will host the Spring Garden Event this weekend, opening the grounds for visitors to see the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, the Rose Garden, the White House Kitchen Garden and the South Lawn of the White House. The National Park Service will distribute free tickets at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.
