Sunday Breakfast Menu, Feb. 10

Lawmakers from both parties will appear on the Sunday talk shows to offer insight ahead of President Obama’s State of the Union address. They will also weigh in on the hot topics in Washington this week, including drones, torture and the emerging threat of cyberwarfare.

Representative Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, will be on “Fox News Sunday” to prepare viewers on what to expect from Mr. Obama’s speech on Tuesday. Expect her to mention gun control, as she announced that a young girl who attends a school near the site of the Newtown, Conn., massacre would be her guest at Mr. Obama’s address. Later, Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona and member of the Armed Services Committee, will discuss foreign policy and the potential effects that the so-called sequester cuts could have on the military.

Mr. McCain will also be on nivision’s “Al Punto,” along with Senator Robert Menendez, Democrat of New Jersey, who will talk about comprehensive immigration reform. Mr. Menendez will also touch on recent allegations that he intervened with federal health officials to help a close friend in a billing dispute with Medicare.

Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky, will be on CNN’s “State of the Union,” giving a “pre-buttal” to the president’s Tuesday night speech. CNN will also have an interview with Senator Angus King, independent of Maine, who will argue that drones are a humane method of war, but should involve more than just the executive branch.

CBS’s “Face the Nation” will also delve into the United States drone program with Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, Senator Jack Reed, Democrat of Rhode Island and member of the Armed Services Committee, and Representative Mike Rogers of Michigan, the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. They will discuss the confirmation hearing for John O. Brennan, the nominee for director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and the administration’s handling of the drone program. On Tuesday, Mr. Rogers called it “a bit ridiculous” that a classified memo justifying the 2011 drone strike in Yemen that killed an American is being withheld from lawmakers.

ABC’s “This Week” will cover an array of topics on its political roundtable, from Mr. Obama’s second term agenda to immigration, gun control and Republican efforts to rebrand their party. Representative Tom Cole, Republican of Oklahoma, and Representative Keith Ellison, Democrat of Minnesota, wil debate those issues along with Stephanie Cutter, deputy manager of the 2012 Obama campaign.

Rebranding the Republican image will come up again this Sunday as Representative Eric Cantor, the House Majority Leader, sits down with NBC’s “Meet the Press” to discuss his party’s plans to reshape and repackage their message to voters.

Representative Chris Van Hollen, Democrat of Maryland and member of the House Budget Committee, will be on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” to weigh in on the budget issues facing Congress and the March 1 sequestration deadline.

TV One’s “Washington Watch” will feature an array of black actors and actresses discussing the media’s influence on the culture of violence.

Former Gov. Jon M. Huntsman Jr. of Utah will be the guest this week on Bloomberg’s “Political Capital.”
