Apple has added two new and pretty useful features to its upcoming Health App for iPhones with iOS 8: a caffeine tracker and step-counter tool. That’s according to 9to5Mac, which installed the latest iOS 8 beta software.

The step counter actually works with the iPhone 5S’ M7 processor to track your progress when walking or running during a typical day. The caffeine tracker appears to require manual input — which seems like a bit of a pain — but it also could prove useful for anyone trying to cut down on their coffee consumption.

The new Health app Apple is producing collects a variety of data about your well-being and can even pull data from third-party apps and services. One such example would be Jawbone’s Up Coffee app, as GigaOm points out.
